In praise of moving forward
I’ve reached that point where there’s no way forward.
A few times more than I would’ve liked.
But I’ve definitely been there. It’s a feeling that doesn’t ever really leave you.
The odds are stacked against you. Stacked so high that a way forward can no longer be seen, let alone navigated. Giving up is the only option.
On one occasion, I can remember sitting at the top of the stairs in my house, with my dog by my side, and just crying.
What matters isn’t whether you get knocked down. It’s whether you get back up. On all these occasions I moved forward. Not always by much, and not always by doing the right things, but always moving. Always going forward.
Don’t be concerned by how impossible the challenge ahead is. Don’t let the stacked-up odds blind you.
Just. Move. Forward.
